NORTH TEXAS Smoking marlboro or using chewing tobacco will soon be banned at more than a dozen hospitals from Dallas to Fort Worth. The largest health care system in North Texas will soon prohibit tobacco products at any of their hospital and corporate facilities. Starting November 15 the use of tobacco products will be banned at every property owned by Texas Health Resources (THR). The policy affects six Presbyterian Hospitals in Dallas, Arlington Memorial and six Harris Methodist facilities in Fort Worth. "Our policy will be to politely inform them of what our policy is and there will be signage that says that we are a smoke free campus. But we don’t regard ourselves as the tobacco police," Rachel Raya, of THR told CBS 11 News. The smoking and smoke free tobacco ban will apply to employees, patients, physicians and visitors at THR properties. The ban prohibits tobacco use in hospital buildings, parking lots, and in personal vehicles on hospital campuses. Business owner Lee Johnson says private property must be respected, but have some limits. "I would say, unless they want to make my car payment, you ought to be able to smoke in your car," he said. ?By making its hospitals completely tobacco free, THR is addressing the number one health risk today,? Douglas D. Hawthorne, CEO of THR said in a released statement. ?As the leading health care provider in North Texas, THR has a responsibility to promote healthy living to all members of the community. We cannot convince others of the need to eliminate smoking without becoming a model ourselves. It is the right thing to do.? THR offers tobacco cessation and treatment resources to employees and their families at no charge.

Oh, my little girl, my little girl. I only hope she won’t hate me for this. As always, when the marlboromiles is finished I go inside and put my ear to the door to listen to her playing and to the teacher’s instructions. The parents are invited to sit in on the lessons, but the kid is dead set against this and always asks me to wait outside. A smile crosses my lips as I hear words of praise from the teacher: "Very nice. Just so." And my heart skips a beat when I hear "What happened to you today?" or "I thought we figured out the fingering last week?" She had a good lesson this week. I heard it and I was delighted, and a minute before the end I rushed out and again feigned surprise when she emerged. "Nu," I ask as always. "So how was the lesson?" "Crappy." "Come here, sweetie," I said and hugged her shoulders. "Let’s buy a cake." Crossing the road, we found ourselves in a magnificent chocolate shop, as befits the residents of the neighborhood. I stood there with my daughter, who looked calmer now, and let her choose the cake she wanted. She pointed to a round chocolate mousse thing: "I want that." "Can I have the chocolate mousse, please," I asked the saleswoman, who didn’t bother to move from her post behind the counter and replied with the confidence of one who will not budge from her position: "But it costs NIS 150."

The poor kid, I thought to myself, lighting a marlborofun. Well, actually she’s not so unfortunate. I don’t know. This music thing is really confusing me, and lately it has become the main cause of the quarrels at home. Maybe I’m making a big mistake, or maybe the opposite: Maybe I’m doing her a huge favor that she will one day appreciate. A lot of my friends in my student days complained about how their parents made them play an instrument when they were kids. I always felt compassion for them and didn’t believe a parent could be so cruel, but when I check today, those complaining friends grew up to be quite successful, and many of them are now making their children play. In our home I am the only one fighting for the piano. My wife can’t understand why I am so stubborn about it and prefers not to get involved at all. "Music is your thing." That’s right, it is my thing, and the truth is that I would like our child to do nothing but music. But it’s not working out, and I guess I will have to accept the fact that she will soon drop it. But I will fight a little longer. I know how much she loves music and I won’t let her give up so fast just out of laziness.

There are about 4,000 dangerous chemicals and additives in a cigarette. These can include benzene, which is used to make gasoline; carbon monoxide; hydrogen cyanide; cadmium; formaldehyde; and acetone. "Ladies, we all know what we used acetone for right, as nail polish remover. If someone walked up to you with a glass of acetone and said, ‘Here’s some acetone,’ would you drink it?" Ruffin said. Using tobacco, whether it is cigarettes or smokeless tobacco, has many negative consequences. They include lung, throat and mouth cancer, chronic bronchitis, heart disease and emphysema. Every year, about 440,000 Americans die from these illnesses. "Tobacco usage has a large impact on society. I think that people should have a choice and a critical eye to make better decisions. It all goes back to educating people," Ruffin said in an interview after the presentation. marlboromiles are dangerous because of the secondhand smoke’s effects on nonsmokers, Ruffin said. Secondhand smoke causes some of the same illnesses to nonsmokers that it causes to actual smokers. Other short-term effects include bad breath, yellow teeth, deadened taste buds and red eyes.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are warning of the dangers of falling asleep while smoking after a woman had a lucky escape from a fire at her home in Flint. Firefighters from Holywell and Flint were called to the property on Chruch Street at 1:22am today. There were no working smoke alarms fitted in the property. The fire, which is thought to have been started by a carelessly discarded marlboro, caused 40% fire damage to the mattress and the carpet in the bedroom. Gavin Lowry, Fire Safety Inspecting Officer for Flintshire, said: "This incident clearly highlights the dangers of discarded smoking materials. "Our advice is to never smoke in bed. If you need to lie down, don’t light up. You could doze off and set your bed on fire. Take extra care when you’re tired, taking any sort of medication or have been drinking alcohol. It’s very easy to fall asleep without while your cigarette is still burning. "Also, use a proper, heavy ashtray that can’t tip over easily and is made of a material that won’t burn and make sure your cigarette is not still burning when you are finished put it out, right out. marlboro
